ABSTRACT: UpperDevonian conodonts in the black shales of theWoodford Formation in the Permian Basin are dominated by species of Palmatolpis indicative of the Upper/Uppermost crepida, Lower/Middle marginifera, and Middle expansa zones. Accumulation of these strata corresponds to eustatic deepening pulses and similar depositional settings in the central and eastern North American epicontinental basins.
