The collection of Middle and Late Silurian (Wenlock–Pridolí) to Early Devonian (Lochkovian) foraminiferal type specimens of Dr. H. A. Ireland from the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago, Illinois, USA is examined. Ireland’s syntypes are from the Arbuckle Mountains area of south-central Oklahoma. Lectotypes are selected for twenty of Ireland’s species and two of his subspecies. The type specimens are re-illustrated, redescribed, and classified according to modern agglutinated foraminiferal systematics. The generic affiliations of nine species and two subspecies are revised or reevaluated, including species previously assigned to the genera Webbinella, Psammosphaera, Bathysiphon, Ammodiscus, Lituotuba, Glomospirella, Glomospira, and Psammonyx. The genera Ceratammina and Bifurcammina are redescribed.
